Charter School Wait List? Not at iSucceed!

Waist List

In Idaho, there are thousands of students placed on a wait list for a charter school, hoping they can receive a more personalized, quality education.

At iSucceed, we believe every student deserves a great education. That is why we have no wait list and offer open enrollment throughout the year.

You might have heard that charter schools create wait lists to keep their class sizes “small.”

But small class sizes don’t equal a personalized education. Constant student-teacher interaction and support are what’s key to achieving academic success.

About iSucceed’s Personalized Education: Instructors

Our students often report that they communicate more with their teachers here than they ever did at their old school.

How?

Our teachers spend their day a little differently from the traditional teacher. They don’t focus on 30+ students each hour, then go home to grade papers.

Our teachers hold a few 1-hour live online sessions, the way a traditional teacher holds a class. But most of their day is dedicated to helping students individually. Here are some of the ways teachers communicate with students:

  • Phone calls
  • Instant messaging
  • Emails
  • Course announcements
  • 1-1 online tutoring
  • In-person appointments

You can read a more detailed post on this topic here.

Personalized Education with iSucceed: Quarter Schedule

iSucceed does not follow the traditional semesters. Several classes over a long period of time create unnecessary stress and cause students to lose focus.

That’s why our students enroll in three courses every nine weeks. How does this provide a personalized education?

It allows for credit recovery or early graduation.

On average, students enroll in three courses at once. But a struggling student could take four courses to get back on track. Alternatively, an excelling student could add on courses to graduate early. This way, our students can achieve their academic goals, no matter how unique their needs.

This cool infographic explains the benefits of our Quarter Schedule over semesters. Check it out!

Personalized Education with iSucceed: 100% Online

One of the reasons we don’t need a wait list is because we are 100% online.

Being 100% online has several added perks for our students:

  • Flexible schedule
  • Complete weekly coursework at the time of their choosing
  • Study at a coffee shop, library or from the comfort of their home.
  • Students with family responsibilities, jobs or extracurricular activities can better balance their lives.

5 Reasons to Enroll With iSucceed Virtual High School This Fall 2017

iSucceed Virtual High School is a 100% online public charter school that is accredited and tuition free. We provide a quality education to 9–12th grade students throughout the Idaho.

Unlike other charter schools, iSucceed Virtual High School has no waiting list, and holds open enrollment quarterly. If you are not happy with your current high school, here are five reasons to consider making the switch this August 21.

5 Reasons to Enroll

1. Receive Personalized Support From Highly Qualified Instructors

There is a common myth that because online students aren’t in a physical classroom, they are left to complete coursework on their own. But in reality, students at iSucceed receive more one-on-one attention from instructors. Because our teachers are not in a classroom filled with 30+ students at a time, they have the ability to personally connect with each student via phone calls, emails, instant messaging and live online sessions. In fact, many of our students report that they receive more support here at iSucceed than they ever did at their old schools.

2. Catch Up or Get Ahead on Credits

iSucceed’s Quarter Schedule is a great model for helping students catch up on credits, or get ahead and graduate early. Our students take three courses every nine weeks, and can add courses with approval for a total of 4 extra credits in one school year. Learn more about the benefits of our Quarter Schedule in this cool infographic.

3. Have Flexibility in Your School Schedule

Because we are 100% online, students enjoy flexibility in their schedules. While there is weekly coursework and assignments to complete, students are welcome to work during the day, night or weekends if they choose. It’s a great option for those who work, have illnesses or family responsibilities, or who participate in time-demanding extracurricular activities.

4. Study From the Comfort of Your Home (Or Wherever You Want!)

Another benefit of 100% online: our students can study in the comfort of their home. As long as you have access to a computer and internet connection, you can complete coursework at home, at a coffee shop, during your work break or wherever you choose.

5. Enjoy Award-Winning, Engaging Curriculum

Our courses are accredited, award winning and extremely engaging. At iSucceed, you will receive a quality education, filled with instructional videos, educational games, graphic-novel-style historical stories and more to help you enjoy what you’re learning. Learn more about our curriculum in this blog post.

Quarter 1 classes start August 21, so be sure to get enrolled right away! If you’re worried about switching schools midyear, then check out some tips from this blog post.

To name a few, we’ve held school events like Cupcake Wars, Bowling Nights and Pizza and study events.

School events are open to all students at iSucceed! Oftentimes you can also bring your friends from other schools to join in on the fun.

Online Student Clubs

If you have a hobby you enjoy, come join a student club! iSucceed has a wide variety of online student clubs for students to meet fellow students who share similar likes and interests.

These clubs also hold monthly in-person events for yet another opportunity to socialize and make friends in online high school.

Prom

Nobody rocks prom like our students! We have games, food and a live DJ so you can dance the night away or enjoy hanging out with your classmates and friends.

At iSucceed there are so many ways to get involved, it’s easy to stay social in our online environment! Be sure to stay tuned to our blog for more information on upcoming school events and student clubs.

Is iSucceed Accredited?

iSucceed is an Idaho home-grown school founded nearly a decade ago.

Still, the most common question we receive is, “Is iSucceed accredited?” Or “Will I get an actual diploma if I graduate with iSucceed?” Your answer is below.

Is iSucceed Accredited?

The answer is yes!

We are a legitimate public charter school. Our instructors are highly qualified and our coursework is aligned to state and national standards.

In other words, we are a real high school, we’re just instruct our students online.

What is a Public Charter School?

If you attend the traditional high school you’re assigned to, you attend a public school.

A public charter school is very similar. They are tuition free and accredited just like the traditional school. Public charter schools are held to the same standards in student achievement. The difference, according to the Public Charter School Association is this:

“Charter schools are unique public schools that are allowed the freedom to be more innovative while being held accountable for advancing student achievement,” (Publiccharters.org).

Where Does iSucceed Receive its Accreditation?

iSucceed is accredited through AdvancED. This is an intensive evaluation of the school’s academic strategies and goals, improvements and instruction.

What Does it Means to be Accredited?

Accreditation is incredibly important. It’s is what gives value to your diploma. iSucceed Virtual High School diplomas are recognized by employers and universities nationwide. Really, it is the same as earning a diploma through a traditional, brick and mortar school.

Benefits of Attending iSucceed Virtual High School

Although the diploma you earn is the same, the high school experience is different. Some benefits of iSucceed:

  • 100% online, flexible schedule
  • Easily accessible help from teachers and counselors
  • Two courses every six weeks
  • Safe environment
  • Engaging student life

Talking to Your Parents About Switching to Online School

You’ve been Googling, trying to find a solution.

You finally think you have it, but now a new dilemma arises: How do I convince my parents? Many stop right there. They think, “My parents would never let me do that.”

You might be right. But you also might not be. Either way, it’s worth a shot.

Many students find that their parents are a lot more willing to listen than they think. If you do your research, and maturely talk with your parents, they will listen.

Too many times we hear, “I wish I could do online school, but there’s no way my parents would go for that!” If you’re wanting to go to online school, but not sure your parents would be on board, here are some tips:

1. Do Your Research

Your parents will want to know the answers to basic questions: Is it free? Will you earn a real diploma? What if you need help with homework? What about your friends? Other online schools will vary in these answers, so be sure to research. Here are our answers:

  • iSucceed is a tuition-free public charter school
  • We are accredited. This means you will earn a real diploma recognized by universities and employers.
  • Our teachers are highly qualified and readily available to help.
  • We provide several ways for you to connect with students. Learn more here.
  • For other answers to common questions about iSucceed, head to this blog post.

If you come to the table with these answers ready, the conversation will go a lot smoother.

2. Pick an Appropriate Time

The timing of the conversation is important. You don’t want to bring it up while mom is trying to cook or dad is watching the game. Wait until you’re at the dinner table having a conversation. Or ask mom or dad for a time to talk together. That way, they will be ready to hear what you have to say.

3. Don’t Be too Negative on Your Current School

Chances are, you could hate your school. But focus on the positive opportunities, not the negatives of your current situation. You can certainly let them know you’re not enjoying school, but show them you’re seeking a solution. This is a more mature approach than complaining. If you go this route, your parents likely will be much more receptive.

4. Explain Why it Would be a Better Fit For You

What benefits do you like most about online school? Maybe it’s that you’ll get easier access to teacher help. Or perhaps you simply can’t get out of bed in the morning, and this will help you become more disciplined. Either way, think on it and let them know the benefits you see in switching to online school.

5. Gather Some Notes

Writing might not be your favorite, but it can really help. If you have notes gathered as to what you’d like to say, you’ll be more prepared and it might calm your nerves.

6. Remember, Your Parents Care About You

You might fight sometimes. Maybe even a lot. But we’re willing to bet that your parents are just trying to do what’s best for you. They care about your well-being and happiness. It can be scary, but if you approach them with a thought-out idea, they’ll hear you. It’s always worth trying!

Parents, if you are thinking online school would be a good fit for your child, but not sure how to talk to them about it, stay tuned! We will be giving you some tips soon.
